Building Houses MyZeil Shopping Centre Frankfurt Germany

Building Houses

"Massimiliano Fuksas designed the My Zeil Mall in the PalaisQuartier region of Frankfurt, Germany, completed in 2009.

The shopping mall resembles the Milan Trade Fair by Fuksas, which had a large rectangular glass pavilion curving around the blocky forms of the structures inside. The vortex at the front entrance also recalls the BMW Welt museum in Munich.

In the Frankfurt mall MyZeil, the negative space of the exterior public realm swirls with 3,200 triangular glass pieces into the heart of the complex, with glass structure folding and flexing according to advantageous views and circulation strategies. The 6000 m2 of roof collects its rainwater for reuse. Vast elevators circulate people efficiently from store to store..." to find out more...

Interior Design 3.1 Phillip Lim Seoul Flagship Store

Interior Design

"This project is a single store within 3.1 Phillip Lim's global roll-out campaign, which will include many international locations. Aware of the inevitable repetition that is necessary for such a commercial expansion, we thought of the typology of a flagship store as being characterized by the simultaneous need for sameness and difference. Typically, the consistent repetition of brand traits is necessary to reinforce an identity, while novelty can refresh the aura and desire for the brand. In this particular case the client, a relatively new fashion house launched in 2004, emphasized the need to establish a legible consistency in order to unify the different existing stores in New York, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. As a result, we questioned the inherent contradiction in the flagship typology. Can the need for sameness and difference become a generative friction rather than a trap?" to find out more...

Interior Decoration OMA wins competition for Stadskantoor building at Rotterdam’s City Hall

Interior Decoration

"The strategy of the project is very simple: a modular flexible structure spans between existing buildings, supporting the mixed use program, while freeing the space below for public use. The axonometric shown below shows this rich public realm that the offers back to the city.
With this modular structure, units can be added or even dismounted from the structure as demands on the building change over time, and can adapt to either office space or residential parameters as desired. Green terraces on higher levels provide the possibility of an apartment with a garden in the heart of urban Rotterdam..." to find out more...

Interior Decoration

CRYSTAL MESH from autokolor on Vimeo.'

“Iluma, located in the Bugis district, a designated entertainment district in Singapore, is an entertainment complex designed to appeal to a broad spectrum of society, both local and foreign, by gathering diverse state-of-the-art entertainment activities within a memorable urban object.
This large urban object will invigorate the city with an interactive media façade composed of faceted jewel-like fixtures that glitter in the day and glow in the night. The façade is stacked as undulating strips that overlap and recede to create gardens and terraces overhanging the street. The media façade will be a canvas for media artists to display their works, enabling creatives and even the public to make city-scaled interventions in light and sound.
The design contrasts a rectilinear mass against a curved one. The rectilinear rear block accommodates large, regular components like car park, retail anchor tenants, cinema and performance spaces, while the curved front block accommodates smaller retail and entertainment activities along curvilinear paths for a stimulating shopping and entertainment experience..."

Interior Decoration Yusuke Hara Wins Grand Prize at 2009 World Space Creators Awards

Interior Decoration

"Hara’s design concept is a proposal for creating a store space where multiple brands can mix harmoniously while each at the same time retains its own brand identity. It uses the laws of perspective to decide the size of the display fixtures, such that when the visitor stands at the focal point of the display, they are surrounded by a single brand. Although the fixtures at first appear to be scattered at random, this arrangement broadens the possibility for different combinations, with the ultimate goal of regaining a sense of unity and coherence for each brand within a certain area of space and time. As the visitor traces the paths between different fixtures, they are able to encounter clothes that they had never considered before. Hara’s hope is that the approach of “scramble perpective” will create brand intersections that give rise to new fashion coordination ideas." to find out more...

House Construction Penang Global City Center, Asymptote Architecture

House Construction

Asymptote Architecture Announces the Design of Penang Global City Center (PGCC), an Expansive, Sustainable, Mixed-Use Development with Two Iconic Sixty-Story Towers.

The design achieves its elegance and stature through the simultaneous embrace of natural landscapes and contemporary urbanism.

The forms of the two towers are comprised of both horizontal and vertical elements: sculpted horizontal components move across the plinth, rise up and transform into articulated vertical structures. Set against the backdrop of the nature reserve of Penang Hill, the twisting, glass façades of the towers “perform” various surface effects—reflecting, refracting and distorting views of Penang, the surrounding landscape and the seascape beyond.

House Construction United States Federal Building, Thom Mayne + Morphosis

House Construction

"When architecture engages social, cultural, political, and ethical currents, it has the potential to transform the way we see the world and our place in it. It is from this intersection of broad societal currents that we approached the design for the new Federal Building in San Francisco. Our primary interest was to produce a performance-driven building that would fundamentally transform its urban surroundings, the nature of the workplace, and the experiences of the people who use it while making intelligent use of natural resources. For me, this project represents the epitome of an optimistic architecture; an architecture that synthesizes its complex forces and realities into a coherent whole."

House Construction Opus Project, Dubai, Zaha Hadid Architects

House Construction

The Opus will appear to hover from the ground. Constructed of three separate towers the building will appear as a singlular unified whole, with a distinctive void. The interiors of which will be clad with a fully engineered curved class curtain wall to allow for eye-catching views into the void. Reflexive fritting patterns in the form of pixilated striations will be applied onto the glass facade to provide a degree of reflectivity and materiality to the cube while assisting in the reduction of solar grains inside the building.
"This is a building that challenges traditional concepts of office space,” said Hadid. “Not only will it be visually stunning, it will also be a workable space, and a place that allows every occupant to experience a better quality working environment, using the very latest technological advances."

"The Opus project combines art and performance with form and functionality, the strategic location, stunning exterior and the extensive range of facilities make the Opus project a strategic buy for potential investors who can expect considerable returns on their investment" said Mehdi Amjad, president and CEO of Omniyat Properties.
