Building Houses Residence for Comfortable Life in Houston

Building Houses

Comfortable residence

Industrial designers from StudioMET have developed residence for a comfortable everyday life in Houston, the State of Texas.

Residence of the True Texas Cowboys

The exterior is executed from the materials which are not demanding constant service. The interior is organized in the form of the big open space and includes kitchen, a dining room and a drawing room. The drawing room is a spacious hall for rest in the open air. Carefully located windows fill the house with enough of a daylight and create communication with surrounding landscape.

Building Houses Venice CityVision - The Winning Entry by bam!

Building Houses

"Turin, Italy-based architects bam! have shared with us their entry for the Venice CityVision Competition (previously on Bustler) that was just recently awarded the First Prize. The team included Alberto Bottero, Simona Della Rocca, and Valeria Bruni...

The canal seen from the bridge appears as a uniform expanse in which the water, swallowed up, makes space for the foliage of the trees that caress the surface of the water. The green is not really on the water, but in it. You can see the reeds, the gardens and the poppies breaking through, and you can glimpse simple gestures of daily life. If, urged by curiosity, you were to go and visit one of those places, it would seem to you as though you are resting in a softened space, far from the frenzy of the city and the shuffling of tourists, far from the souvenir stalls and the cruise ships. It would seem to you to be present in a room enveloped by tree-lined walls and looking at the city’s buildings and at the sky – most of all at the sky – as through from a cradle..." to find out more...

Interior Design Slow Up-rising by Ja Studio

Interior Design

"Here's the fascinating entry "Slow Up-rising" by Canadian firm Ja Studio to Solar Park South, the international ideas competition in Calabria, Italy. The competition brief called for a 'Solar Highway' by re-using Salerno-Reggio Calabria highway sections between Scilla and Bagnara to be decommissioned by the Italian Highways Authority...
The project emerges at the critical time when the demise of one of these giants appears on the horizon. A highway is about to be decommissioned as a new highway would create an even faster connection in its place. Our proposal is a gentle ramping platform that connects the top of the by-passing highway to the bottom of the valley. This connecting platform through time would allow a new form of life to appear. The mono-functional body that once cast shadow on its immediate surroundings would start to get populated with life and through time would turn into a unique mix of habitat and infrastructure. The gradual re-appearance of the small would both safeguard the extra-large and also introduces new possibilities for the co-existence of the two..." to find out more...

Interior Design The Hong Kong Airport Concept

Interior Design

Airport, Hong Kong

The new airport concept should be consolidated with surrounding city context. Architectonic bureau Aedas has made it a basis of the conceptual project.

The airport becomes a part of a city landscape

WKT Airport will serve the passengers who have arrived both to Hong Kong, and to China thus it's unusual enough to the traditional international airports which are usually being the property of one country.

The construction place is on border of the West Kowloon Cultural District, near to Victoria Harbour. The design of a building is completely identical to city structure.

WKT Airport, Hong Kong

Hong Kong, Airport

In an airport complex there will be 400,000 sq.m. of the commercial areas, they will be placed over station.

The project height — 45 metres, a building is benched, opening a sort on the Hong Kong sky. The station building becomes as though an amphitheatre, where representation — the city opening on opposite river bank. Arena here — set of the pedestrian paths transformed into the blossoming garden.

Interior Design BOARD Finalist in Competition of Architecture, Design, Realisations in Eco and Agro-Materials

Interior Design

"The proposal of Rotterdam-based Bureau of Architecture, Research, and Design (BOARD) entitled “ATREE?” has been selected out of 336 projects for the final phase of the European Competition of Architecture, Design, Realisations in Eco and Agro-Materials organized by Region Picardie (France) and the Free State of Thüringen (Germany). As one of 22 finalists, BOARD’s awarded entry is currently exhibited in the Chantilly Castle in France...

Imagine a project that does not need to be constructed, because – being a tree - it grows by itself. Such a project only needs to be planted. Therefore the transportation of the materials for such a project is very energy efficient, because as a matter of fact, no major transportation of materials is actually necessary. The only materials to be transported are the seeds for planting. And the only energy spent is to prevent hastiness and impetuousness as such a project needs a lot of time and patience to grow.

But this proposed project is not only a tree. It is a living installation that is made out of several trees. It can be used for pleasure, relaxation or as an exhibition space. Once the seeds have been planted, the installation takes around thirty months to grow into its final form. Nevertheless it can be used in several playful ways already during the process of growth. The tree used for the installation is a fast growing willow that reaches a height of more than two meters in only one year. As the proposed project is a living installation, its life cycle and ecobalance is very efficient as it does not cause any environmental or social damages. To weave the willow into different shapes for different living installation, the bioplastic Polyamide 11, made of castor plant vegetal oil, can be used as a mold. The molds can easily be transported by bike to the site and fixed simply to the trees..." to find out more...

"MILL RUN, PA. Fallingwater today announced that a jury has chosen Patkau Architects of Vancouver, British Columbia, as the winner of its first-ever design competition for on-site cottages that will support residential educational programming at the Frank Lloyd Wright masterwork in Fayette County.

Patkau Architects’ winning design for six small, efficient, sustainable cottages will serve as the basis of a final design, to be implemented following regulatory approval and fundraising.

Interior Design Safe Trestles Design Competition

Interior Design

"The Safe Trestles International Design Competition announced the finalist proposals. With 104 entries from 25 countries, the jury had the tough job to narrow it down to 5 teams in the finalists round. Finalists will receive a stipend to work with Trestles Stakeholders to refine and develop their designs towards an achievable solution...
Access to Trestles, one of North America’s most celebrated waves at the northern edge of San Diego County, California, is under threat due to safety and environmental concerns. Currently, over 100,000 people each year follow informal trails through wetlands and over active train tracks to gain access to the surf breaks at Trestles. These impromptu manmade paths present a safety hazard with passing trains and threaten the fragile ecosystem of Trestles..." Check out the five finalist projects and vote!

Intermittent display is a network of paths, pools, puddles and ponds located on the Manhattan side of Highbridge where the landscape is restructured to support various activities. The infra-blooms function as a water-cleansing system that collects and filters rainfall, and then channels it back to the aqueduct where it falls, days later, into the Harlem River. This rain delay - a temporal gap from storm-event to bridge-event – reinstates the presence of the river and establishes a previously absent connection between the river and the aqueduct. By reversing the flow, the aqueduct is transformed from a distribution pipe that transports water from distant sources to a collecting reservoir that returns clean water back to the river, thereby inverting the historical trend of isolated infrastructures that promote the contamination and disregard of local waterways. The intermittent curtain of water falling from the bridge can be engaged by visitors and artists in a variety of ways..."

Interior Decoration gh3 to Design June Callwood Park in Toronto

Interior Decoration

Toronto-based architecture and landscape design firm gh3 have been awarded with the first prize in the international design competition for Torontos June Callwood Park.
"A Voice in the Forest. The starting point of our design takes a voice sampling of June's own words—“I believe in kindness”—physically mapped onto the site, its undulations creating the abstract geometric pattern of openings and clearings within the dense groves of the Super-Real Forest. June spoke of kindness as “the god in our machinery,” believing in kindness rather than organized religion or God; these words are taken from her last interview expressing that core idea. The edge of this voice wave pattern creates a sinewy path that runs north to south through five clearings in the forest, connecting Lakeshore to Fort York, its black granite planks touching the edges at several points to provide east-west community access into the park..." to find out more...

Interior Decorating Dead Sea Masterplan, Metropolitan Workshop

Interior Decorating

"The starting point of all our thinking was the legacy that this project will leave. We want to protect the astonishing and unique natural assets of this region for future generations, by creating a local zero carbon economy. At the same time, we want to sensitively use these same assets to support and energise the community living here already. It is a fine balance, but we hope our careful consideration of water management, solar power and waste management offer a sustainable future for the Dead Sea.
Jordan is a country without large innate wealth or petro-dollars, whose greatest resource is human ingenuity. We are confident that our Dead Sea masterplan sets a good example to all nations in the measures we must all take in new developments in order to survive."
