Building Houses Haiti Simbi Hubs Wins AA School and Foster + Partners Sustainability and Infrastructure Prize

Building Houses

"And here's another one from Henning Larsen Architects: the Copenhagen-based firm has just been announced winner of the international competition for the planned rebuilding of Siemens' corporate headquarters on Wittelsbacherplatz in Munich, Germany. The winning proposal was chosen for its comprehensive approach to sustainable design. Eleven other architecture firms were also participating in the competition, including seven German firms and two from Munich...
Siemens’ new headquarters is an urban, recognisable composition of plazas, courtyards and alleys that will unfold a new, vibrant urban space in central Munich.

Siemens and Munich are integrated into a harmonious whole by merging two archetypal entities – mass (Siemens) and void (Munich) – into a complementing formation. The city opens up the mass, which in response opens up to the city.

The new headquarters consists of six rectangular, rounded volumes attached to a central vertical structure that connects the entire building complex. This structure creates six varied courtyards engaging in close dialogue with the city – thus generating a new urban space to be explored..."

Building Houses Vevey Office Building by A/ZC and Architram

Building Houses

"Paris-based Atelier Zündel & Cristea Architects (A/ZC) has shared with us their entry for a competition that seeks to densen the urban fabric of Vevey, a Swiss town on the north shore of Geneva. The project is a collaboration with Swiss firm Architram

This competition is part of a communal initiative to strengthen the urban element at the western entrance to the city of Vevey. Located between two district highways, the site benefits from an advantageous position and a visibility without equal. There is a drawback to this location, however: the noise. Taking into account this significant constraint, we decided to design the building’s casing as a double skin..." to find out more...

Building Houses Hangzhou Gateway by JDS

Building Houses

"JDS/Julien De Smet Architects has shared with us the proposal for a mixed-use development in Hangzhou, China which recently won the Belgian firm the First Prize in the invited competition. The design team also included engineering firm China CUC. The Hangzhou Gateway program includes offices, commercial, a restaurant, and a post office on an area of 23,619 m2.
The concept of the building is to create a gateway that is neither closing-off or dividing the city. The 15-story tower features offices, restaurants, post office, a terraced roof garden and a sunken passage that leads through a shopping center. The rooftop terraces offer generous views to the distant nature while the stone louvers provide a sustainable solution to the office conditions. The building will become the gateway for the Gongshu District and an icon for the urban transformation of the old industrial neighborhood..." to find out more...

Interior Design Specificity of Modular Buildings

Interior Design

Pacific Mobile Structures

At times there are situations when building of thorough buildings is not justified from the economic point of view. In that case, mobile building constructions it's the ideal decision for this target. However, mobile offices it's only semantic structure, life cycle of many modern "portable" buildings is quite comparable with historical monumental structures.

About Modular Building Materials

Among all variety of the building materials intended for erection of mobile offices and commercial real estate, is the real favorite — the mobile building materials. The basic concept of modular buildings, assemblage from standard structural modules — block-containers. The similar approach allows to create and build modular buildings of almost any area and complexity. Modular buildings can be and many-storeyed.

Pacific Modular Building

Besides, the planishing of buildings easily changes according to requirements of the customer. If necessary modular buildings can be equipped by all engineering communications, including an electricity, water supply, the water drain, ventilating system and a heating services. If necessary modular buildings can have spare systems of communications.
For example, connection to an electric main and presence of the backup generator. As an example of efficiency of the given branch of building — the Heritage of Comfortable Pacific Modular Buildings is housing estate of modular buildings of various design at absolutely accessible cost.

Mobile office

All these features allow to use modular buildings in large quantities. With equal success it's possible to construct small trading pavilion and the whole small town for seasonal workers. Among the most typical problems for which modular buildings became the optimum decision: housing estates, technical hangars, office buildings, warehouses, trading premises.

Interior Decoration First ecologically-pure business centre

Interior Decoration

Business-centre

In Dijon begins the organic life the most harmless building in the world. Power supply system Elithis Tower is capable to make more energy, than it will be necessary for requirements, and emissions in atmosphere of hotbed gases will be in 6 times less, than at standard business centres.

This building symbolizes new ecological standards to which there should correspond modern architecture.

Harmless building

Thierry Bievre, the general director of the contractor, company Elithis Engineering, has suggested to create technically advanced building at preservation of level of the expenses necessary for building of traditional structure. To cooperation over the project he has invited the well-known architect, Jean-Marie Charpentier (Arte Charpentier Architects).

The standard of ecological cleanliness

Thanks to joint efforts, the group has created a building a total area of 5,000 sq.m., height of 10 floors which has represented the sample and possibilities of a combination of requirements of an aesthetics, city integration, comfort, energy and ecology.

Eco-ideology tower

For achievement of it, the whole eco-ideology has been created. Materials got out at the account of their influence on environment. Facade furnish — a tree, processed isolation, the minimum application of aluminium which influences ecology. The big windows allow to use a daylight as much as possible. Special solar panels filter light, protecting from brightness and superfluous heat. In total it is used more than 330 solar panels which are placed on a roof.

In a building the unique system of a threefold stream patented by company Elithis is used. By means of this technology, general office energy (from technics, daylight, people) remains, updated and used for needs of a tower again.

Choice in favour of economy

Each participant of the project — owners, customers, developers, managers, users — office employees and visitors — are invited to take part in increase of energy-efficiency of a building, having realised own level of energy-consumption. It will be offered to everyone to make a choice in favour of minimisation of own energy-consumption (it concerns both papers, and light, both water, and transport…), thereby, having deposited money in the general influence on ecological stability.interior decoration

Interior Decoration Cocoon Offices // Zurich // Switzerland // Camenzind Evolution

Interior Decoration

"Cocoon by Swiss architectural firm Camenzind Evolution is located in Zurich’s Seefeld district on a beautiful hillside, which enjoys excellent lake and mountain views. The location’s distinctive flair stems from the exceptional park-like setting – a green oasis into which Cocoon snugly nestles. Flanked on three sides by mighty, age-old trees the elliptical structure reads as a freestanding sculptural volume that gracefully spirals up from the park. The stainless steel mesh enveloping the building combines visual privacy with restrained elegance, while establishing a strong and unmistakable presence...
The bold stand-alone building embodies an innovative conception of interior spatial organization and interaction with the surrounding environment. In doing so, it caters for a wide variety of workplace and occupancy concepts. With its spiral massing, Cocoon may be conceived as a sort of ‘communication landscape’ that creates a unique spatial configuration and working environment in a matchless setting. The stepped, upward-winding sequence of segments also shapes the character of the building interior. All spaces are arranged along a gently rising ramp, which wraps around a central, light-flooded atrium..." to find out more...

Interior Decorating

"Capital Gate will be one of a kind. Its graceful, asymmetric diagonal structure, known as a ‘diagrid’, supports the tilting external load of the building and we believe that this is the first building in the world to use a pre-cambered core."
